Meeting minutes of the 5/9/2006 meeting were read and approved with no corrections. NIMS was discussed and more information will be presented at the next meeting. |
| New business: |
Expenses were discussed and listed as follows: Kelly Caswell - $50.00 ($25.00 filing fee to the Secretary of State Minnesota for filing Assumed Name Certificate plus a $25.00 filing fee to the same for correction to the Assumed Name Certificate); Cheryl Blegen - $35.00 for ½ of the filing fee to the State of Minnesota for Articles of Incorporation; Tony Hallin - $52.94 ($35.00 for the other ½ of the filing fee to the State of Minnesota for Articles of Incorporation and $17.94 to 1and1 internet service for Domain Name registration – www.kcfrt.org – and website hosting services thru 11/11/2006). |
Cheryl Blegen brought up that accountant Jere Bartz suggested that we would need the $500 filing fee for 501c3 status, versus the $150.00 fee. Will meet with Jere after 6/1/06 to discuss more. |
Kelly Caswell brought up that she is still waiting for the First Responder Manual from Rob. |
| “Wish lists” were discussed, but more information is needed about First Responder training before a complete equipment list can be compiled. Generally agreed upon items include: jump bag, dressing, gauze, tape, gloves, id badge, O2 tank, regulator, and O2 tank bag, bulb syringe, oral/nasal airways, C-Collars, scissors, B/P cuff, and more to be discussed. |
Projects were discussed as follows: Cheryl Blegen checked with KBEK radio regarding free air time ad and we have a spot for 15 minutes on 6/19/06 at 0730. Decision was made that we will email each other with proposed question/answers. It was further discussed that we should meet with Scott from KBEK radio beforehand to prepare and that possibly only one person go to the studio for the interview that day. Tony Hallin volunteered to do this. Cheryl also checked with Jere Bartz accountant regarding upcoming July 1st 2006 fee change with the 501c3 rates and his response was that it should not be a problem and to set up appointment with him after 6/1/06. And finally attorney John Ahlgren was contacted regarding liability if AED’s are incorporated and his response was that he did not know the answer to that. |
Kelly Caswell is still waiting for resources on First Responder training and material for helping coordinate the building of Protocols. Kelly also checked with Kanabec Publications about free ad space and they have graciously donated a page ad for two weeks to us. She also checked with Moralink.com about free ad space and they will help we just need to get them the information. Finally the insurance resource was contacted regarding liability involved if AED’s are incorporated and Bubba’s response was that it should not be a problem as long as AED’s are part of our training and within the scope of our practice. |
| Tony Hallin set up our website www.kcfrt.org, it is still in progress but is up and available with one link to a pop up form to request more information. Tony did not write up the ad for paper regarding upcoming informational meeting (6/26/06), but will have complete by tomorrow for review (5/24/06). Tony also did not rewrite by-laws to incorporate individuals with training higher than first responder nor investigate more information on NIMS (9/1/06), but will have complete information and by-laws rewritten by next meeting (6/7/06) or sooner. |

Kelly Caswell will follow up with a meeting with Annette from Kanabec Publications to give our ad and discuss PR with them, check with North Memorial regarding other contacts in area for donation requests. |
Tony Hallin will finish ad by 5/24/06 for Kelly to present to Kanabec Publications, draft a flyer to post at local stores, draft an introduction letter to township boards, and will verify with Fire Chief regarding room use at fire hall for 6/26/06. |
