Meeting Minutes from 8/2/06
Meeting was called to order at 1800 by Cheryl Blegen.
Attendance: Cheryl Blegen, Kelly Caswell, Tony Hallin
Old business: Prior meeting topics were discussed and organized as follows: First Responder Training Agency is tabled until further information is received from Kim Thon; Protocol building will begin with the next meeting; Equipment has been settled on a L.A. Rescue bag with O2 module, also we will be adding an O.B. kit to each of these for an approximate price of $454.00 each; Radio/Pagers have been tabled until a meeting can be arranged with Mike from Granite Electronics in St. Cloud; Letters and Meetings with the townships have been tabled until further information is obtained; NIMS was discussed and agreed that the board members will take the 700, 800 & the ICS 100, 200 & 300 levels – First Responder volunteers will take the 700 & the ICS 100 level. It was further discussed that FY2006 we need to show good faith to try and get everyone trained by 9/1/2006 “Profile” ad in the Times we be further explored by Kelly Caswell this month; Meeting with Chris Olson will be set up by Tony Hallin this week; Fundraising events were brainstormed and included Street/Bar Dance, Christmas Wreath Sales, Contests (fishing/ice fishing, etc.), Supper/Breakfast, Skate Park?, local music group (Mike Smith?), Golf outing, Cinco de Mayo party, Poker Run; Grants – everyone is working on finding and will be an ongoing process; Reimbursements to the board members was decided to wait until the company is more financially on it’s feet; Flyers for volunteers/donations will be made up this week by Tony Hallin; Next informational meeting was tabled until after the receipt of our 501c3; Ogilvie parade was tabled until next year; Meet with Mike from Granite Electronics in St.Cloud is in the process – just trying to coordinate times; Contacting other affected EMS area’s will coordinated by Cheryl and Kelly gathering contact names and addresses and submitting them to Tony who will draft letters to them; Meeting with Jere Bartz accountant has been tabled until after receipt of our 501c3; Vests for MVA’s will be explored by Kelly by checking with her husbands employer; Hats have been tabled until further notice; Name tags will be provided by the Kanabec Hospital; By-Law changes will be done by Tony Hallin; Thank you’s will continue to be sent out for personal donations by Cheryl Blegen – Larger donations and business donations will be done in a group thank you run in the Times after receipt of our 501c3.
New business: Kelly Caswell brought up that there are services available for doing background checks for annual fee’s of approximately $29.95. Kelly also mentioned that she saw that the Kanabec County has recently given out $7500 in Grants (seen on Moralink.com) Tony Hallin has secured a DUNS number for the company, this is needed to apply for any Federal Grant monies. Tony also showed receipts for office supplies of $38.56 and $30.00 for the 501c3 application. Tony also brought up the information for requirements for First Responders who have allowed the registration to lapse – if less than 12 months lapsed, only the refresher course is required, longer than 12 months requires the retaking of the original class. Cheryl Blegen gave receipts for $25.00 for Trupe Advertising for our fair banner.
Projects were assigned to individuals as follows: Cheryl Blegen will follow up with attorney regarding deductibility of donations to our company; attempt to gather information on number of medical/accident calls to each township area; assist in gathering names and addresses of contacts for other affected EMS area’s. Kelly Caswell will check with the Times for the possibility of doing a “Profile”Ad on our company; check with Kari Dutcher regarding meeting with Township boards; assist in gathering names and addresses of contacts for other affected EMS area’s. Tony Hallin will email/send letters to applicants giving them an update on our status; check with Diane Bankers regarding meeting with Township boards; set up meeting with Chris Olson; make changes to website to add a donation link with information; create flyers for posting; continue to try and arrange meeting with Granite Electronics; draft a letter to other affected EMS area’s; finish By-Law changes.
